More About Our Company

Mini Stripe is a service of Digital Stripe Inc. and has been created to fill a specific need. We have found that for the majority of server needs, a low power and compact server is preferred over a larger and more power hungry system because often the additional available performance is wasted.

When Apple originally launched the Mac mini, a few of us immediately saw its potential as a server platform. Apple also recognized this and finally released a “Server” model of the Mac mini. Now, several generations later, Apple is marketing the Mac mini Server as its recommended server solution in most cases. If you do not want to use OS X on a server system, it is possible to run alternative operating systems on Mac mini systems but a generic Mini-ITX system may be a better solution. Find out more about the Mac mini on our Mac mini Colocation page.

While all of us have always enjoyed and constantly use Mac computers, we also see the need for different solutions. Although we do not use Windows for any tasks in our company, we do use OpenBSD, FreeBSD, and Ubuntu Linux where appropriate. Because of this, we have also decided to support very compact and power efficient Short Depth 1U server systems as well as Mac mini Servers. Find out more about the systems we colocate from the Short Depth 1U Colocation page.
